The Trachycarpus Fortunei, also known as the Chinese windmill palm, has fan-shaped, dark green leaves that grow from a compact rosette. At about 40 cm tall, the plant is still relatively small, with a sturdy, fibrous trunk characteristic of this hardy palm. The leaves give a tropical appearance, even in smaller sizes.
Location:
This palm thrives in both sun and partial shade and is well-suited for both indoor and outdoor use. Outdoors, it can withstand cold temperatures and is winter-hardy down to about -15°C. Indoors, the Trachycarpus Fortunei needs a bright spot, for example, near a window, but direct sunlight isn't essential.
Water requirement:
Water the Trachycarpus Fortunei moderately. Keep the potting soil slightly moist, but avoid allowing the roots to stand in water. Allow the top layer of soil to dry between waterings. Well-draining potting soil is essential to prevent root rot.
